Description
ChiXR originates from an intercistronic region of the chb operon in Salmonella and E. coli. The transcription of this operon is activated in the presence of the chitooligosaccharides as the genes included in this operon comprises for metabolism of these sugars. ChiXR destabilizes another regulatory small RNA called ChiX by binding to the stem of ChiX transcription terminator hairpin. It is fused with arabinose promoter (Para).
Notes
There are no design considerations.
Source
Arabinose promoter was obtained from PCR of biobrick I0500 and ChiX was designed and ordered as a minigene. Then the two parts were fused together.
