Description

This is an indirect regulatory devices activated at high glucose concentration through an intermediate protein cI of lambda phage. In this pathway, protein cI will be expressed when CRP is activated at low glucose concentration. cI will therefore repress the expression of gene downstream the promoter BBa_R0051 heavily. On the contrary, when glucose concentration is high, the promoter will be derepressed.
There was no promoter existing in the nature which is directly activated by glucose. In this device, RFP was designed as a reporter. RFP can be placed by an arbitrary protein that needs to be activated by glucose.
