Description
This part consists of three genes from the native gene cluster from Shewanella oneidensis MR-1 with native RBSs: MtrA is a decaheme cytochrome c located between inner and outer membrane; MtrB is aa transmembrane beta-barrel responsible for facilitating contact between MtrA and MtrC; MtrC (alternative name: OmcB) is a decaheme cytochrome c attached to the outer membrane. Together these proteins are able to form an extracellular electron export system. (Jensen et al, 2010, PNAS vol. 107 no. 45 19213-19218; doi: 10.1073/pnas.1009645107)
Notes
Genes were obtained by PCR amplification of S. oneidensis MR-1 gene cluster.
MtrA and MtrC contained PstI restriction sites that had to be removed by site-directed mutagensis
