Description
The Fibroblast Growth Factor Receptor Substrate 2, or FRS2 protein is a lipid based membrane-anchored docking protein that forms a fusion protein complex with the Fibroblast Growth Factor Receptor-1 (FGFR-1) to regulate downstream signal transduction. In melanocytes, this docking protein mediates signal transduction to pathways as the MAPK pathway that are involved in melanocyte proliferation, differentiation, and migration. FRS2 may be useful in its ability to mediate downstream signaling as the FGF2 ligand binds to FGFR-1.
