Description
Bi-directional promoter containing a divergent rightward (PR) and leftward (PL) promoter from Tuc2009 bacteriophage with an intergenic switch region negatively regulated by CI and Cro repressor proteins, respectively. The intergenic switch region contains four operator regions designated OL-Cro, OR-Cro, OL-CI, and OR-CI. Cro has high affinity binding to OL-Cro, resulting in repression of PL and up-regulation of PR. At high concentrations Cro will bind to OR-Cro and repress PR. CI has high affinity binding to OR-CI, resulting in repression of PR and up-regulation of PL. At high concentrations CI will bind to OL-CI and repress PL.
Notes
Divergent promoters where incorporated within the same part due to overlap of operators and promoters.
