Description

This device is a PoPS in -> pcyA out with Pomp promoter downstream.

Pomp (BBa_R0082) is a positively regulated, OmpR-controlled promoter. Phosphorylated OmpR binds to the three operator sites and activates transcription.

Proteins pcyA, ho1 and cph8 can produce a photosensitive complex that can activate the endogenous transcription factor OmpR. So, light (in particular 660 nm radiation) is an indirect repressor of Pomp.

These interactions are valid if used in E.coli deficient in natural EnvZ, because EnvZ can activate OmpR.
