Sequences BBa_M1207_sequence (Version 1)

Description

Consists of a sequence that codes for a temperature sensitive mRNA strand, which forms a hairpin stem and loop structure, occluding the Shine-Delgarno sequence that allows tranlation. At 42 degrees Celsius the hydrogen bonds between the self-complimentary pairs are broken and the subsequent protein, a Tet-repressor, can be translated. This part is regulated by a RecA promoter. This part functions as a switch that regulates cell survival, making them viable only above 42 degrees.
