Description
Composite part for a Vitamin B12 Biosensor for Escherichia coli. Features a constitutively-active promoter (~99% promotion efficiency), the naturally-occurring vitamin B-12 riboswitch sequence, gemini fusion protein coding sequence (coding for both GFP and ??-galactosidase production), and a strong promoter (~99% termination efficiency).
Notes
As opposed to more "traditional" biological sensor and actuator parts (that operate on the principle of PoPs), this composite Vit B12 Biosensor relies on RiPS (Ribosomes per second), as the main sensing structure (part M36998) is the naturally-occurring vitamin B12 riboswitch???a length of RNA that forms complex aptamer structures upon binding of vitamin B12 as the substrate.
