    Description

    LuxS is a synthase that produces DPD, which spontaneously forms the AI-2 signaling molecule. This molecule is involved in quorum sensing in diverse microorganisms. The LuxS is under the control of the Py promoter, that is activated during conjugation process.

    Notes

    The mechanism for controlling transcription from Py remains undefined.
