Description
This part converts ergosta-5,7,22,24(28)-tetraen-3β-ol to ergosterol. In the presence of UV light ergosterol is converted to Vitamin D2. The coding region[BBa_M36655] produces C-24(28) sterol reductase an enzyme that catalyzes the final step in Vitamin D2 synthesis pathway by converting ergosta-5,7,22,24(28)-tetraen-3β-ol to ergosterol.
Notes
This construct uses a strong promoter and 5'UTR so that the amount of C-24(28) sterol reductase is substancial to efficiently convert the precursor to Vitamin D2.
