Description
One of two positively regulated operons of the NAH7 plasmid from Pseudomonas putida which encode the enzymes for metabolism of naphthalene via salicylate. When used with a BioBrick generator responsive to salicylate via the NahR activator (e.g. BBa_K957002 and BBa_K957003), this operon can function as part of a whole-cell biosensor for naphthalene.
Also included in this BioBrick part is an oriT sequence. When cloned into an existing non-conjugative BioBrick vector, the resulting plasmid may be inserted into a host via conjugation.
Notes
Three internal BioBrick cut sites (one NotI, two PstI) remain in this version of the part. However, the utility of the part is not restricted, since digestion with EcoRI and SpeI facilitates standard molecular cloning.
